Žigan Krajnčan (1995, Kranj) was born into a musical family. He started playing the violin at the age of three, at the age of four he started taking acting lessons, and performed in two musicals and a movie by the age of fourteen. He had his first professional engagements already as a student of the contemporary dance programme at the Pre-school Education, Grammar and Art Grammar School in Ljubljana, performing in theatre and contemporary dance productions and musicals, while also breaking ground to the freestyle, hip hop and popping culture in Slovenia.

He has been working closely with dancer and director of the movement school Urbana Scena Gašper Kunšek, creating Alien Express (2016), a piece based on structured improvisation, which brought them the 2017 Ksenija Hribar Award for promising dancers, a number of touring opportunities through the European dance network Aerowaves and awards at several choreographic competitions, and Chorus (2017), voted by the audience as the best performance of the 2019 Gibanica (Moving Cake), Biennial of Slovenian Contemporary Dance Art, which they presented to audiences in the USA, China and Europe. Besides developing his own work, Žigan also works as a choreographer and/or movement adviser in the theatre. His 2020 performance Fusion with Myself explores the possibilities of weaving together dancing and singing.

Žigan has thus far directed several performances, choreographed over a dozen theatre, contemporary and urban dance performances, co-created and performed in international productions as well as taught hip hop, popping and contact improvisation. He has been developing the idea of integral creativity with a focus on expanding, fusing and pushing the limits of the genres and styles he is working with.
