Magdalena Reiter (1977, Gdańsk, Poland) has been working and living in Slovenia since 2002. She has graduated from the National Ballet School in Gdańsk, Poland, and from P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, Belgium. Her choreographic opus includes over 15 solo and group pieces, which were presented to audiences nationally and internationally and produced by independent production houses or commissioned by visible production houses and professional dance companies (Contemporary Dance Studio Zagreb, Anton Podbevšek Theatre, Polish Dance Theatre – Poznan Ballet, Bodhi Project, Plesna Izba Maribor, Werkhuis Producties). Magdalena regularly choreographs for the theatre, opera and film (collaborations with Janez Burger, Mateja Koležnik, the Flemish De Tijd, Skaagen, Flemish Opera, Matjaž Berger, Jaša Koceli, Barbara Zemljič, etc.). As a dancer and performer she has worked with and performed for Johanne Saunier, Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre, Matjaž Farič, Mateja Bučar, Matjaž Berger and others.
She is the recipient of the best performance awards at the Gibanica Festival of Slovene Dance and Teaterfest in Sarajevo and was also awarded the Slovenian Critics and Theatre Researchers’ Award at the 2016 Maribor Theatre Festival for the choreography in the performance Rose Bernd, directed by Mateja Koležnik.
Magdalena has worked internationally as a teacher and mentor (Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts, Contemporary Dance Department, Zagreb Dance Centre, SEAD / Salzburg Experimental Dance Academy, Pre-School Eduation, Grammar and Arts Grammar School Ljubljana, EnKnapGroup, numerous workshops in France, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Poland) and has been running Ljubljana-based VIBRA – International Workshops and Festival of Contemporary dance since 2012.
