Alja Branc Barbosa (1994, Jesenice, Slovenia) is a contemporary dancer, performer, and dance-maker working between Slovenia and Hungary. She graduated from the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy (BCDA) and previously completed her studies at the High School for Contemporary Dance ((SVŠGUGL) in Ljubljana.

As a maker, Branc Barbosa has created works including Platonic Dances (2025), Corporal Espionage (2024), Mimesis (2023), Don’t do. Try! (2022), and the miniatures Well Domesticated Breed (2019) and Manufacture of Immoral People (2018). Her work often engages with performativity, embodied research, and collaborative processes.
She is part of the Irene Plaque collective, where she has co-created works including HOLD.me (2026), Triple Bill (2025), The Meeting (2024), and Dollhouse (2024–2026). Irene Plaque also organizes and facilitates an event titled Dance Shop, an experimental platform that supports the presentation of works in progress and creates space for dialogue between artists and audiences. The platform is developed in collaboration with the Workshop Foundation and Life Long Burning, and supported by the Creative Europe Individual Mobility program.

As a performer, she frequently collaborates with Patrik Kelemen, featuring in works such as Cardiology (2023), Cryptic Bodies (2021-23), and Cryptic Bodies Unplugged (2022). In Slovenia, she has performed in works of Beno Novak (KOORD, 2026), Matjaž Farič (Slippery Floor, 2025–26), Sara Janašković’s Konstelacije / Constellations (2024), Urša Sekirnik’s Radio Hit20 m in lenght (2024) Julija Pečnikar’s Softwareness (2023), Vita Osojnik’s Temporarily Detained Bodies (2021), and Blanca Arrieta’s Realignments (2020).

In 2026 she will co-develop Soft Shifts, a collaborative project created with the Slovenian Contemporary Dance Association (DSPS) and the association Asociacija, connecting the fields of health and culture through workshops exploring embodiment, care, and artistic practice. Upcoming projects include her authorial opus Practice of Conflict (2026–2027) and collaborations with Beno Novak, Lara Matea Ivančič, Sara Janašković and Patrik Kelemen.
